Forklift certification renewal
How long does forklift certification last?
Three years.
OSHA requires employers to evaluate each operator at least once every three years. Refresher training is required sooner after an accident or near miss, after unsafe operation is observed, when the operator is assigned a different type of truck, or when workplace conditions change in a way that could affect safe operation. We email you before your certificate lapses.
That interval is in 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(4)(iii) on osha.gov. Last reviewed . OSHA does not issue the certificate, and an online course does not renew it by itself. The employer evaluates the operator and keeps the record.
When it has to happen sooner
- An accident or a near miss
- Unsafe operation is observed
- The operator is assigned a different type of truck
- The workplace changes in a way that could affect safe operation
The part you can finish online
The course and written exam are $49 once. Your employer still does the hands-on evaluation, including at the three-year mark.
5 modules and a 20-question exam. Most people finish in under 30 minutes.
If you certify the crew
Operators get an email at 90, 60, 30, and 7 days before the date, and the manager gets a digest. The seat stays reusable, so a refresher does not mean buying another class. $99 a month for 10 seats. 14-day free trial, no card, no sales call.
