An operator handed you a Forklift Certified certificate. Here's what it means.
This page is the honest one-pager. It says exactly what the online course covers under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178(l), what the rule still requires you to do at your workplace, and how to confirm the certificate is real in about ten seconds. Nothing here requires you to buy anything.
What the certificate covers
Formal instruction — 1910.178(l)(2)(ii)
5 interactive modules covering the truck-related and workplace-related topics in (l)(3): controls and instrumentation, stability and load handling, pre-operation inspection, pedestrian traffic and surface conditions, refueling/recharging, and the operating rules that follow.
Written evaluation
A 20-question exam, 80% to pass, 30-minute limit. Unlimited retakes, so a pass means the material is actually known, not guessed.
A verifiable record of both
The certificate names the operator, the completion date, and the issuer (Flat Earth Equipment), and carries a unique certificate ID and QR code that resolve to a public verification page.
What you still do
Practical training and a workplace evaluation
OSHA requires the operator to be observed operating your truck, in your workplace, by someone with the knowledge, training, and experience to evaluate them — 1910.178(l)(2)(iii). No online course can do this step for you, ours included. For an experienced operator it is typically a short session.
The certification record — 1910.178(l)(6)
Four fields: operator name, date of training, date of evaluation, and the identity of the person(s) who did the training and evaluation. Our certificate gives you the first two; your evaluation supplies the rest.
Re-evaluation at least every three years — 1910.178(l)(4)
Plus refresher training after an accident, near miss, unsafe operation, a new truck type, or a workplace change that affects safe operation.
The short version: the operator has done the classroom half. You observe them on your truck, sign off, and file the record. That is the same split you would have with any classroom or online provider — 1910.178 puts the evaluation on the employer, always.

Check what comes back
A genuine certificate shows the course, the operator's initials, the issue date, and the exam score. An invalid or expired ID says so.
Certificates are issued and verified by Flat Earth Equipment, Sheridan, WY, the company that operates Forklift Certified. That is also the name printed on the certificate footer.
